Zombie Ace

No matter how badly you want it, getting to play the bad guy is a rare occasion. Well, Zombie Ace is going to change all of that. In this game you are the bad guy and not just any bad guy, you are a Zombie flying across US to infect 14 different cities.

Zombie Ace is an awesome game that hasn’t received the amount of exposure that it deserves. I’ve been playing this game for a week now and I’ll be honest, it has become one of my most favorite mobile games. In this game you are in control of an airplane, while the passengers, including the pilot, are mindless Zombies. You have to deliver the required amount of Zombies to each city in order to properly infect it and to get rid of all the humans.

The game mechanics are pretty similar that of Tap Tap Glider, but here, the gameplay and story are far much better. With numerous upgrades and extra goodies that can be purchased with in-game currency (or real world money), it takes the flying experience to a whole new level. You have to fly as far as you can without crashing but you can also land at anytime at one of the 14 cities to infect it.

There are countless obstacles along the way like Military Jets, UFOs, Sasquatches, lightning, etc. The Military jets will try to kill you [I have no idea why they are trying to kill something that’s already dead!] but you can also attack these jets by throwing one of your Zombies at it and it will gnaw its way to solider’s demise. In order to infect the whole country you’ll have to upgrade your plane by using the cash collected during the levels and through a new in-game currency called “Brains” [Captain Obvious was here!]. You can collect these currencies by completing levels, unlocking achievements, etc.

Graphics

When it comes to graphics, Zombie Ace is all Aces [pun intended] in my book. It has a nice cartoonish visuals, giving you that edgy and polished look. All characters and environments have been hand-drawn and the crisp and colorful visuals definitely enhances the gameplay.

Sounds

The quite ‘chill’ and zombie-ish tune playing in the background makes the whole gameplay more immersive. Aside from the BGM, there are countless sound effects that add to the overall gaming experience. I am a personal a fan of Zombie sound effects and the gnawing sounds they make are awesome.

Controls

Simple and smooth. Two words that come to my mind when describing the controls of this game. All you have to do is to tap anywhere on the screen to fly the plane higher, while releasing will make it go down. You can also tap other planes, vehicles or UFOs to attack them and when you tap any of the other jets, one of your Zombies will jump on it and gnaw it until it explodes. So, basically there is only one control and that is tapping on the screen, everything else is automatic.

Verdict

Even though I’m not a big fan of the microtransactions that this game tries to sell me, Zombie Ace is a unique “endless flyer” game that provides fun and entertainment for countless hours. Once you play it, I’m most certain that you’ll be hooked. So, give it a try and see for yourself. It feels unique and fresh compared to some of the other crappy flyer games out there in the Google Play store.
